PODCAST Meet the locals with British Airways - The Official Website of the Malta Tourism Authority UK
I script, produce & present the award-winning Meet The Locals podcast guide for British Airways. I conduct in-depth research into one of the airline's destinations each month, and then fly out to interview a selection of locals who give advice, tips and anecdotes to help visitors discover their hometown(s) (recent interviewees have included an Italian prince, Richard Branson's kilt maker and a women whose family have been making lederhosen since the Middle Ages). I also record plenty of sound, music & 'atmo', so listeners are really transported to the destination in question.
VENUE-SPECIFIC BLOG POSTS FOR LUXURY HOTELS AND RESORTS
Take to the skies above East Crete with travel writer Heidi Fuller-love who enjoys a magical sunset helicopter ride from Abaton Island’s helipad.
The helicopter’s propellers whirr like a million bees wings as we take off from Abaton Island’s helipad. Beneath us the resort’s alabaster-white walls, framed by emerald lawns and reflected in countless swimming pools, glitter like molten silver in the setting sun. “We’re going to follow the coast, then fly inland over the Lasithi plateau, cross ove...

Pigging out with the Pata Negras: a road trip to taste the world's most expensive ham
I won second place in AITO's Blogger of The Year Award 2019 for this feature and photos.
Heidi Fuller-love heads out on the trail of Spain's most exclusive Jamon.
Hanging ham hocks click heels like flamenco castanets in the wild Sierra wind as I pull into Finca Montefrio and park with the flourish of a bullfighter in a cape-flinging cloud of dust. At the heart of the Sierra de Aracena, a vast park which extends from the clifftop town of Zufre to Aroche near the Portuguese border, the ranch is ideally situated for raising the pata negra pigs used to produce jamón ibérico.
Ham’s eq...
Greece marks 200 years of freedom in the midst of a national lockdown
In 2021 Greece celebrates 200 years of independence, but for many Greeks the irony of celebrating the country’s freedom whilst in the confines of a hard lockdown is a bitter pill to swallow, especially with TV channels constantly broadcasting the mantra of Bouboulina, Kolokotronis and other fighters for liberty: "One hour of freedom is worth more than 40 years of slavery and prison.” ...

Touring Turkey's Lycian coast
STRETCHING FROM Mugla in thewest to Antalya in the east, thisregion on Turkey’s southern coast is littered with structures left by the Lycians who – according to ancient Greek historian Herodotus – came from Crete and were probably a branch of the Minoans.
Granted independence from Rhodes by the Roman Republic, the founding principles of the Lycian League, a democratic federation of 23 cities created in 168BC, were used as a model for the US constitution.

Stella Island Luxury Resort & Spa
This stylish resort, built around one of Europe's largest lagoon pools, is an adult's-only water wonderland with a tropical 'Love Island' vibe and generous, friendly service. There's a delightful light-filled spa and several restaurants – some dishes are prepared with home-grown produce.
Location
8 / 10
The hotel is located at the end of the quiet (and fairly isolated) Analipsi beach road – lack of signage makes it difficult to find (after the turn off from the old Heraklion-Agios Nikolaos ma...
Cambodia’s surprising cuisine: Spiders, anyone?
I'm a fearless foodie & will try anything put on my plate. In this Cambodia piece for The LA Times I rode a scooter from Siem to PP tasting everything en route
'I nosed my Vespa out into the line of three-wheeled tuktuks, bikes and cars. In my pink crash helmet and Gucci bike goggles, I felt as frivolous as an extra in the ‘60s movie “Quadrophenia,” but my mission was a serious one: I was planning to travel the nearly 200 miles from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh stopping o sample some of the weirdest and most wonderful foods Cambodia has...'
My big, steamy Greek hot springs road trip
Steam rises from the streets ahead of me – it’s as if the flat-roofed houses are on fire. I breathe in the hot, humid air, choking on the rotten egg and old sock stink, as a tortoise the size of a small terrier waddles across my path. Is this a vision from hell? No, it’s my first glimpse of Edipsos on the Greek island of Evia, the Euboea of Homer’s Iliad.
Ever since Plato’s time, temples have been built wherever hot water sprang from the earth, but a lot of the sources where the ancient Gree...
